The Setup Menu

Digital Output

Select the Digital Audio Output format that
matches your audio system's capabilities. If your
audio system supports Dolby Digital (surround
sound), you should select "Raw" setting. If your
system only supports Stereo (or if you're using your
TV's stereo speakers for audio playback), then you
select "PCM" setting. Note, you'll only experience
full surround sound if you use the COAXIAL Digital
Audio output, and have selected "Raw" setting.
Please also note that not all DVDs have surround
sound audio tracks.
• If using HDMI connection to TV for Video AND Au-
dio playback, you should select "PCM" setting, so
as to ensure a stereo (not surround sound) signal
is passed to your TV's speakers.
Night Mode
Night mode is Dynamic Range Control (DRC) option
for analog audio output. It limits the volume of louder
passages of a movie (such as action sequences), while
keeping quieter passages at normal volume level.
Channels
It allows you to select the speaker output mode
(Stereo or 5.1 Channels).
DEFAULT
This option allows you to return the unit's settings
to the original factory settings. Any changes you
have made to the unit's settings will be reverted
back to the original settings.
