  • Page 2 It has been reported that problems may exist in interfacing 2408 dimmer systems with NCM 6200 control consoles operating in the standard microplex mode. This is due to the short data output stream of the NCM 6200. The symptoms are that the console will operates the lights sluggishly on slow fades, and some lighting channels may appear to change intensity erratically.

    3-PIN microphone cable to connect the NCM 6200 to your NSI Dimmer Packs. This link provides power to the NCM 6200 via the Dimmer Packs (pin 1: ground, pin 2: +15v DC) and also serves to send the microplex dimmer signal to the Dimmer Packs (pin3).
  • Page 4 Page The NCM 6200 memory scenes are structured into 16 pages. Each page contains 8 memory scenes that can be accessed with the 8 scene select buttons. Pages are selected by using the Page button. Each tap of the Page button sequences to the next page.

  • Page 6: Digital Led Display

    The two-character digital LED display is located on the center of the front panel of the console. This display normally show the current memory page number when no special functions are active. The LED display will also indicate the status of special operation modes as listed below. DISPLAY MEANING Flash mode is currently active.

    Scene Split The NCM 6200 has two autofaders available to the Scene Select buttons. This allows the user to have two scenes from the Scene Select buttons active at a time. For example, specials can be brought up and changed on one autofader while general lighting can remain on or be changed independently.

    CONFIGURING THE CONSOLE The Configure mode can be used to change the console's configurable functions such as memory lock, softpatch, number of dimmers, scene split. To change one of the configurable functions, tap the Config button until the LED display shows "CF". Now a specific configuration function can be selected by tapping the appropriate Memory Scene button as listed below.
  • Page 11 Memory Scene button #5 : Softpatch The NSI NCM 6200 console can actually control up to 64 dimmer channels by the use of Softpatch. Each of the 16 control channels can be assigned to any number of dimmer channels between I and 64. Any dimmer channels assigned to a particular control channel will change intensity with the control channel.
  • Page 12 When the Softpatch is completed, press the Memory button #8 to store in non-volatile memory, otherwise the patch will be lost on power-down. To turn Softpatch off, press memory scene button #1 until the digital display shows "off" when button #1 is held down.

    Using the NCM 6200 console with a MIDI sequencer provides a completely automated lighting show. Since the MIDI data is in the same format a synthesizers, the NCM 6200 takes full advantage of overdubbing, editing, and auto-correcting features of your sequencer to produce very elaborate and complex lighting sequences.

    CONSOLE RECORDING AND PLAYBACK The following paragraphs explain the recommended Procedure for recording lighting information on your sequencer. First, record all musical parts (drums, bass, etc.) on your sequencer. Next, establish a MIDI channel number to be used for all lighting parts that is different from the channels used for musical parts. Make sure that the 6200 console is configured to send and receive on that MIDI channel number.
