3. Check the air cleaner.
Open the left maintenance cover.
Loosen the cover screws and remove the air cleaner cover.
Remove the air cleaner element from the air cleaner cover.
Check the air cleaner element to be sure it is clean and in good
condition.
If the air cleaner element is dirty, clean it as described on page
Replace the air cleaner element if it is damaged.
Reinstall the air cleaner element in the air cleaner cover and then
install them and secure the cover screws.
Close the left maintenance cover.
Never run the engine without the air cleaner element. Rapid engine
wear will result from contaminants, such as dust and dirt, being
drawn through the carburetor, into the engine.
