INTRODUCTION
This bulletin covers the total quality inspection (TQI) of the 2018 RLX. It includes these procedures:
1.
Remove the Exterior Protective Coatings
2.
Install the Fuses
3.
Remove the Interior Protective Coverings
4.
Install the Floor Mats
5.
Check the Battery
6.
Install the Body Plugs
7.
Install the Front License Plate Holder
8.
Clean the Rear License Plate Area, and
Install the Mounting Hardware
9.
Set the Tire Pressures
To do a TQI on the navigation system, be sure to complete S/B 17-044, 2018 RLX: TQI of the Navigation System.

  • Page 2 CLAIM INFORMATION Reimbursement Time: 1.4 hours NOTE: This time includes the TQI of the navigation system. TQI PROCEDURES Before Starting Review these items:  Perfect Delivery documents, especially the information on battery maintenance and tire pressures  TQI checklist in the maintenance journal Make sure you record the TQI on the appropriate pages of the maintenance journal.
  • Page 3 1. When the indicator blinks, touch the keyless access remote to the ENGINE START/STOP button. The indicator will switch from blinking to steady when communication is complete. 2. Start the engine by pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button while applying the brake pedal. You must start the engine within 10 seconds of touching the remote to the button.

  • Page 5 Install the Floor Mats Install the floor mats where they belong. Place the driver’s and front passenger’s floor mat eyelets over the anchors on the floor, then turn the knobs clockwise to the lock position. Do the same for the rear seat floor mats. The anchors for those mats are under the front seats.
  • Page 6 Test the battery with the ED-18 battery tester using S/B 88-016, Battery Testing and Replacement. Make sure the ED-18 has the latest software installed before using it. See S/B 09-027, ED-18 Battery Tester Update Information. If the test results show GR8 DIAGNOSTIC NEEDED, you must charge the battery with the GR8 battery diagnostic station.
  • Page 7 Vehicle Exterior (Vehicle Lowered to Half-Height) Install the Front License Plate Holder If state regulations require the use of a front license plate, install the front license plate holder as shown using the three self-tapping bolts. The four short bolts are for attaching the license plate. The two long bolts and two self-tapping screws are for installing the rear license plate.
  • Page 8 Clean the Rear License Plate Area, and Install the Mounting Hardware Remove the masking tape that covers the two bolt holes. Using 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner (3M #051135-08984) and a clean shop towel, carefully remove any tape residue. Then, install the two long bolts and two self-tapping screws as shown.
  • Page 9 Under-Hood (Engine Idling) Do the PCM Idle Learn Procedure To ensure a steady engine idle, do the PCM idle learn procedure as follows after installing the No. 15 BACKUP RADIO (10 A) and No. 16 BACKUP (10 A) fuses: 1. Start the engine with the transmission in Park, and make sure all electrical items (A/C, audio-navigation unit, rear window defogger, lights, etc.) are turned off.

  • Page 13 3. Touch the remote to the POWER button, and press the Neutral button with your foot off the brake pedal. The red indicators on either side of the Neutral button will start to blink and will keep blinking for 5 seconds. Even after they stop blinking, the transmission is in Neutral and will stay there indefinitely.
