    SAFETY INFORMATION • Always observe that the lower guard is covering the blade before placing the saw down on the bench or floor. An unprotected, coasting blade will cause the saw to walk backwards, cutting whatever is in its path. Be aware of the time it takes for the blade to stop after switch is released.

    OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Battery-release WARNING button • Battery tools are always in operating condition. Therefore, always remove the battery pack when making adjustments or changing accessories, when the tool is not in use, or when carrying the tool at your side. 1.
  • Page 12 • It is recommended that you use a KOBALT KCSB 16-03 6-1/2” blade sold on www.lowes.com. • Be sure to wear protective work gloves while handling a saw blade. The blade can injure unprotected hands.
  • Page 13 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS h. Replace the outer flange (K) with the clamping (wider diameter) surface facing the blade. Depress and hold the spindle-lock button (P) and replace the blade bolt (J). Tighten the blade bolt securely by turning it counterclockwise with the blade wrench (Y). NOTICE: Do not use a blade wrench with a longer handle, since it may lead to over tightening of the blade bolt.
  • Page 14 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 5. Adjusting the Cutting Depth WARNING • Always maintain the correct depth of cut setting. The correct depth of cut setting for all cuts should not exceed the thickness of the material being cut by more than 1/4 in. (6.5 mm). Greater depth will increase the chance of kickback, and cause the cut to be rough.
  • Page 15 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 7. LED Work Light The circular saw is equipped with a LED work light (X). It will illuminate when the trigger switch is depressed. This provides additional light on the surface of the work piece for operation in lower-light areas.

WARNING • To make sawing easier and safer, always maintain proper control of the saw. Loss of control could cause an accident resulting in serious injury.
  • Page 17 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 10. Cross-Cutting/Rip Cutting When making a cross-cut or a rip cut, align the guideline with the 0˚ blade-guide notch (R) on the foot. The distance from the saw blade to the saw foot is approximately 1.5 in. (3.7 cm) on the right side of the saw and 3.9 in.

WARNING • ALWAYS remove the battery before assembling any accessories. Failure to do so could result in accidental starting, which can cause serious personal injury.

If you attempt to cut without leveling and properly supporting the piece, the blade will tend to bind, causing KICKBACK and extra load on the motor. Support the panel or board close to the cut.
