EL/EX Series Speedlites for EOS Cameras
The camera supports fl ash photography using all functions of EL/EX series
Speedlites (sold separately).
For operation procedures, refer to the EL/EX series Speedlite's Instruction
Manual.
Canon Speedlites Other Than the EL/EX Series
With an EZ/E/EG/ML/TL-series Speedlite set to A-TTL or TTL autofl ash
mode, the fl ash can be fi red at full output only.
Set the camera's shooting mode to < a > or < f > and adjust the
aperture value before shooting.
When using a Speedlite that has manual fl ash mode, shoot in the manual
fl ash mode.
Non-Canon Flash Units
Sync Speed
The camera can synchronize with non-Canon compact fl ash units at up to
1/250 sec. With large studio fl ash units, the fl ash duration is longer than
that of a compact fl ash unit and varies depending on the model. Be sure to
check before shooting if fl ash sync is properly performed by test shooting at
a sync speed of approx. 1/60 sec. to 1/30 sec.
Retract the built-in fl ash before attaching an external Speedlite.
o
When using an external Speedlite in Live View shooting, set [ z : Shutter
o
mode] to an option other than [Electronic] ( = 243).
If the camera is used with a fl ash unit or fl ash accessory dedicated to another
o
camera brand, the camera not only may not operate properly, but malfunction
may result.
Do not attach a high-voltage fl ash unit to the camera's hot shoe. It may not be
