Calculation of estimated values
Based on the regression formula obtained in the statistical calculation of the paired
variable, the expected value of y can be calculated for a given value of x. The
corresponding value of y (two values of x1 and x2, in the case of quadratic regression)
can also be calculated for the value of y in the regression formula.
Calculations of regression coefficient, correlation coefficient and estimated value can
take a long time due to large amount of data.
Creating a numeric table from a function (TABLE)
Perform the following steps to create a numeric table:
1. Press MODE + 3 (TABLE) to enter the TABLE mode.
2. Insert a function using a variable x.
Be sure to insert the variable x (ALPHA +) (X) when generating the numeric tables. Any
variable other than x is treated as if it were a constant.
Pol and Rec cannot be inserted into a function.
3. In response to the prompts, enter the values you want to use by pressing = after each
one:
Start? – enter the initial value for x.
End? – venter the final value for x. Make sure that the final value is always higher than
the initial value.
Step? – Enter the step value. The step specifies how much the initial value should be
incrementally increased when generating the numeric tables.
Pressing AC while the numeric table screen is displayed returns you to the function entry
screen in step 2.
You can only use the numeric table screen to view values. The contents of the table
cannot be edited. The numeric table generation operation causes the contents of the
variable x to change.
The function you enter to generate a table is cleared each time you display the setup
menu in TABLE mode and switch between Natural View and Line View.
