Introduction

Ongoing testing with the GoBook MAX battery pack has revealed a potential issue with early revisions of the battery pack. In certain
rare cases, it was found that the battery pack might get into a state where it will not accept a charge, nor will it communicate with the
computer. This state can only occur if a fully discharged battery pack is left to sit, uncharged, for several weeks.

Fault Condition

When the computer is plugged into external power, the battery will not charge. The gas gauge indicator may blink, indicating that
the battery is being charged, but the gas gauge level never increases. Additionally, the battery will not communicate with
the computer and no battery pack information can be obtained. This can be perceived as sluggishness in unit performance.

Solution

Determining if the battery pack has failed:
1 Plug the unit into external power and verify that the BIOS is version 1.08 or higher.
NOTE The BIOS version can be found on the initial boot up screen. If the BIOS version is not version 1.08 or higher, update the
BIOS using the standard BIOS flash procedure. The latest BIOS and instructions on how to load it on your GoBook MAX can be
found at http://www.itronix.com/product_support/downloads.asp. In some cases updating the BIOS will correct the battery charging
problem.
2 Run Mobile System Monitor while on external power by selecting the icon in the lower right corner taskbar (see below).
NOTE If the icon is not displayed in the taskbar, the application can be manually loaded by clicking Start>Programs>Mobile
Computer Tools, and then double-clicking Mobile System Monitor. The Mobile System Monitor icon will appear in the taskbar.
