Maximizing Battery Life with the Enhanced Hi-Bright Display

Introduction
When using portable electronic devices, it is critical to maximize battery life and run time. Displays typically have one of the most
significant impacts on power consumption and battery life in mobile computing. The GoBook III's new Enhanced Hi-Bright display
option outputs significantly higher brightness levels than the previous model. This increase in brightness naturally increases the
power demand on the system battery. However, proper power management practices maximize battery run times. There are several
methods to consider with power management efforts. Below are two recommended methods you can utilize to conserve power and
increase battery run time.

Power Management Method 1

Set your Display to turn off after two (2) minutes of inactivity when running on battery power. To do this:
1
Select Start, Run...
2
In the Run dialogue box, enter "powercfg.cpl" and click OK. This opens the Power Options Properties dialogue box.
3
Select the Power Schemes tab.
4
In the Turn off monitor drop down menu under Running on batteries, select After 2 mins (see figure 1 below).

5
Next, select the Advanced tab.
6
In the "When I press the power button on my computer" drop down menu, select "Do nothing" (see figure 2 above).
7
Click OK
Notes To turn the monitor back on after it turns off due to inactivity, press any key on the keyboard. Step 6 above ensures the
system is not inadvertently powered off improperly when the display has been powered off due to inactivity.
