Fully insert the strip of sealing caps (previously removed from the electrolyte container) into the battery filling ports. Make sure the strip of caps is fully inserted and flush with the top of the battery.

    NEGATIVE (-) post and the red POSITIVE (+) cables to the POSITIVE (+) posts. Damage to the electrical system will occur if the cables are reversed. Electrical System Fuses All models of the ARGO are equipped with push-in type automotive fuses. The fuses protect the electrical circuits of the vehicle.

Never allow the battery to become drained by unnecessary use of the headlights or over cranking of the engine. If the battery is dead or the electrical charge is low, re-charge it with a 12 volt battery charger.

    Drive Chain Lubrication The ARGO vehicle is equipped with roller chains to each axle. Lubricate the chains every 10 hours or more frequently in dirty or wet conditions with an Aerosol Chain Lube (or use ARGO brand Chain Lube (part no. 130-100).

(Later transmissions utilize a contained ball and spring in- sert threaded into the housing). Place the transmission to the transmission holding fixture and remove all fasteners se- curing the right hand housing to the left hand side. Pull the hi/lo shift shaft from the transmission. As the shift shaft is pulled from the transmission,remove both shift forks, spring, washers and spacer as well. NOTE You may find it beneficial to install half of a 34-232 shift fork on to the reverse shift shaft, this will ease in helping to pull out the shift shaft from the housing.

Fit cover assembly overtop of the housing assembly and press down on both idler shaft bearing bore, and the upper differential bearing bore, until cover is all the way down.

Press in a 101-86 Sealed Bearing onto the Idler shaft. Note: Bearing must not be pressed in too far or it will hit the 34-207 Gear.

Insert a 34-32 Spring, and a 109-05 Steel Ball, into blind hole on the housing (earlier transmissions). Current transmissions utilize a 34-258 Plunger, Ball-Nose Spring assembly that is threaded into the housing at this location.

Insert a 34-235 Shift Lever into the two shift clamps, and install on the shift shaft. Tighten bolts until shift clamp assembly is almost clamping on the shift shaft.
