DAILY USE AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIFESTRAW PEAK SERIES WATER FILTER
STRAW

DAILY USE

Follow these steps for using your Peak Series Water Filter Straw.
1. Sip. Open the top cap and take 5 quick, strong sips to get water flowing.
2. Backwash. Regularly blow air through your filter after drinking to keep the filter clean and prevent it
from clogging. Close both caps when not in use.
3. If using with a standard water bottle, unscrew the bottom cap of the straw, fill the water bottle with
source water, and screw the bottom of the straw to the water bottle. Squeeze water through the straw.
4. If using with a gravity system, attach the hose to the bottom of the straw filter, open the cap and
allow water to flow out of the mouthpiece.

REGULAR CLEANING AND STORAGE

Follow these steps if you have already used your LifeStraw Peak Series filter and you plan to store for
less than 1 month before your next adventure! If you haven't already, make sure to backwash your filter
by blowing air through the mouthpiece and clearing the inside of excess debris.

RINSE

We recommend rinsing both the bottom and top caps of your straw filter before putting away for

DISINFECTION

For optimal disinfection (we always recommend when storing for greater than 3 months), follow the
instructions below:
Mix 1/4 teaspoon household bleach solution with 1-2 cups of water. Dip the filter into the bleach
solution far enough so that the end is submerged in solution, and blow into your filter to push and pull
the solution from the filter several times. Rinse with tap water.

For long term storage, we recommend storing the filter with a saline solution because it helps prevent any mold or algae from growing while also keeping the membrane microfilter wet which ensures good flow rate when resuming use.
