Names and Functions
VOICE CANCEL button: Click this button to reduce the volume level of the vocal from CD
audio playback for karaoke sing-along accompaniment. The effectiveness of this function may
vary depending on the recording on which it is used.
MINIMIZE button: Click this button to resize the EffectGearll window to icon size.
POWER OFF button: Click this button to exit EffectGearll.
EFFECT MENU buttons: Click one of these buttons to select an effect.
Click the [Others] button to display the effect type list. You may assign an effect you most fre-
quently use to the [Others] button.
EFFECT display box: The name of the currently selected effect type will appear in the dis-
play box. You can also display the effect type list by double clicking this box.
ON-LINE HELP box: The name of the button/function at which the mouse pointer is cur-
rently located will be displayed.
ALWAYS ON TOP: Click here to open the Always on Top dialog box. When enabled, the
EffectGearll window or icon is always shown on top of any other application.
PITCH SHIFT buttons: Click these buttons to increase or decrease the pitch of sound by a
semitone (100 cents). The adjacent "LED" indicator shows how many half steps of pitch shift
have been applied. Original sound pitch is represented by center position = 0; each click will
move the LED display ±100 cents at a time.
PITCH SHIFT has various functions depending on the effect mode selected. When "DRY" is
selected, PITCH SHIFT will alter the pitch of MIDI music only. When "HARMONY" is selcted,
a harmonization of the microphone input will be heard. "CD KARAOKE" will alter the pitch of
an audio CD during playback.
PITCH SHIFT may not be available when some types of effects are in use.
LINE/CD IN fader: Adjusts the line/CD input level.
The fader may not be available when some types of effects are in use.
MIDI fader: Adjusts the MIDI input level.
MIC fader: Adjusts the microphone input level.
EFFECT DEPTH fader: Adjusts the ammount of the selected effect applied to the mic., line.
or CD input. When you click the [DRY] button to select the (original) dry sound,the fader will
disappear and you can not control the depth.
NOTE: Moving the Effect Depth fader close to the maximum position may cause "howling" depending on the effect
selected. Effects tailored for Karaoke sing-along are as follows:
CD KARAOKE: Reduces the volume of the main vocal from a song played on an audio CD, and lets you be the vocalist.
Reverb will be applied to the Mic. input. The pitch of the accompaniment can be adjusted.
MIDI KARAOKE: Lets you sing along with songs (accompaniments) using commercially available MIDI files. Echo will be
applied to the sound input by Mic. The pitch of the accompaniments can be adjusted.
