3.4 PUMP PLACEMENT
The submersible pump must be placed over the sliding guide pipes using a guide device joined to the dischar-
ge flange of the pump.
Once it is installed, using a proper crane, slide along the guide pipes until the guide device fixes properly over
the anchoring base.
Use the hoisting points of the pumps and NEVER USE ELECTRIC CABLE TO HANG THE PUMP UP.
!
Use homologated raising elements
3.5 PLACEMENT OF THE PORTABLE PUMP SERIES C/VT/OG
In these cases, the pump has base support and it rests at the bottom of the well or deposit . From here it is
going to suction the fluid to pump.
The bottom where the pump is supported should be flat and stable, avoiding as much as possible, muddy
zones, where the suction of the pump can be covered. If this happens, the pump must be raised until it starts
pumping, and descending it slowly to its original position.
3.6 DISCHARGE PIPES OR HOSES
The discharge pipes and hoses, in permanent or portable installation must have at least the same diameter to
the discharge flange of the pump (always in function to the flow to pump).
If we use a bigger diameter or pipe or hose, the extension must be connected using a concentric reel with an
equal length to six times the difference of the diameter.
As we have already indicated, we have to install check valves (they avoid the water hammer, and the return of
fluids) and gate vale (they isolate and allow the dismounting of elements)
In case of pumping sewage or wasted waters, the gate valve must be a ball valve to avoid obstruction and
breaks.
THE LEVEL OF FLUID IN WELL OR DEPOSIT MUST ALWAYS BE RESPECTED TO AVOID THE DRY WOR-
KING, THE AIR ENTRY OR THE HEATING OF THE ELECTRICAL MOTOR.

STARTING UP

4.1 PREVIOUS VERIFICATIONS
For all the verifications before the starting up, CHECK THAT THE PUMP IS NOT
CONNECTED TO THE ELECTRICAL NETWORK
Verify that the voltage in the network is the same to the one indicated in the name plate of the pump.
Check that there is water in the well or deposit, and that the levels of start and stop are properly placed,
GUARANTEEING THE MINIMUM LEVEL OF NEEDED WATER.
Verify that the pumps are properly installed as per the instructions given by Bombas Omega.
4.2 WIRING OF PUMPS TO THE CONTROL PANNEL
Before making the wiring, check that the electrical cable is in good conditions, it means that it has not any cut or
crushing and that there is no water inside.
Bombas Omega sends the electrical cables of the pumps thermo-sealing by means of the injection of silicone in its
both ends. BE VERY CAREFUL AND NEVER LEAVE THE END OF AN ELECTRIC CABLE INSIDE THE WATER (or
on the floor) before being connected, so we avoid the existence of water inside the cable and the problems that it
could cause.
In standard execution the motors of the Bombas Omega pumps up to 7,5 HP are prepared for direct start (230V or
400V). For powers bigger than 7,5HP the connections are prepared for delta/star or direct start.
4.3 DIRECT CONNECTION
The pumps up to 7,5HP (included) have an outlet cable of 4 wires (3 strength wires plus 1 earth wire).
The 3 strength wires are connected directly to the 3 phases of the control panel, and the earth wire is connected to
the proper earth connection.
CHECK THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER IS NOT CONNECTED
The pumps bigger than 7,5HP have an outlet cable of 7 wires :6 strength wires, 3 wires (U1, V1, W1) for coil entry
and 3 wires (U2, V2, W2) for coil outlet plus one earth wire).
To make direct star, it is necessary to joint 6 strength wire two to two (taking care to avoid a short-circuit), connecting
finally the three final wires to the control panel. Connect the earth wire to its connection of the control panel.
ATTENTION: Although the outlet and inlet cables of the winding are properly indicated, it is necessary to check with
a Megger (or any similar machine) the 6 strength wires in order to check the outlet and inlet ones to avoid a short-
circuit.
4.4 DELTA / STAR CONNECTION
In pumps bigger than 7,5 HP the delta/star starting can be used. In this case, connect the 6 strength wires to the
control panel and make sure to connect always the earth wire to its connection.
