Provide the level-3 clock and the reference clock of the switch fabric:
The MPU provides highly precise and reliable Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) line
interface clock signals (38.88 MHz) to service interface boards. Moreover, the clock module
provides two 2.048 MHz or 2.048 Mbps synchronous clock signals to downstream equipment
or receives external 2.048 MHz or 2.048 Mbps clock reference.
Monitor system running status:
The MPU collects the running status data of system units regularly, and generates control
information accordingly, for example, detecting whether all boards are in position, controlling
the running status of the switch fabric and speeding up fans.
Manage and maintain equipment.
Configure data:
The system configuration data, boot file, charging information, upgrade software, and system
running logs are stored on the MPU. The MPU provides a CF card interface to store data files
as a mass storage device.
Guarantee system reliability:
In view of reliability, the MPU adopts the 1 + 1 redundancy backup mode. In this way, the
active MPU and the standby MPU monitor the working status of each other. If the active MPU
is faulty, the standby MPU becomes active automatically. The main processing module, clock
module and LAN Switch module of the MPU also adopt 1+1 hot backup mode, improving the
reliability of the system.
Specifications
Currently, the NE5000E provides one type of MPU: CR52-MPUA. The CR52-MPUA has multiple
external interfaces. Its specifications and functions are listed below:
