Troubleshooting (Mechanical)

Trouble
Saw arbor won't run.
Caterpillar won't
move.
Workpiece slips.
Convex cut causes
jointing failure.
Concave cut causes
jointing failure.
Uneven product
thickness at front and
rear end.
Abnormal speed of
link chain conveyor
Wood is not cut off.
Insufficient power
causes blade to stop.
Finished cut not
square.
Power light on, but
machine won't start.
Machine starts briefly
then quits.
Probable Cause
Saw arbor guard or rear guard not
closed.
Variable speed belt too loose, or
dropped.
Pressure roller too high.
Saw blade too dull.
Fence is bumped.
Saw blade too dull.
Fence is bumped.
Saw blade too dull.
Fence is bumped.
No oil in lubricator.
Oil distributor jammed.
Variable speed belt loosened.
Saw blade position is too high to cut.
Using same saw blade for trimming
and cutting off.
Saw arbor belt is loosened.
Fence not square.
Damage caused by poor lubrication
on chain rail and chain block.
Emergency stop button not released.
Safety door cover not closed.
Overload relay tripped.
Start switch not functioning.
Stop pushbutton malfunctioning.
Remedy
Check and close guards.
Adjust variable speed belt tension or
replace belt. See page 11.
Lower the pressure roller.
Replace blade (page 10).
Adjust fence (page 12).
Replace blade (page 10).
Adjust fence (page 12).
Replace blade (page 10).
Adjust fence (page 12).
Fill tank with oil (page 13).
Blow off dust with air gun.
Adjust belt tension (page 11).
Lower saw blade 0.5 to 1.5mm below
surface of caterpillar (page 12).

Replace chain rail and chain block,
and maintain proper oil level.
