The unit should be periodically checked for alignment. If the unit does not stay in line
after being properly installed, the following are possible reasons:
4. SUCTION AND DISCHRGE PIPING.
When installing the pump piping, make be sure to observe the following precautions.
 Piping should be always run up to the pump. Do not move pump to pipe as this may
make final alignment impossible.
 Both suction and discharge piping should be properly aligned and supported
independently near the pump, so that no strain is transmitted to the pump when the
flange bolts are tightened.
 Install piping as straight as possible, avoiding unnecessary bends, where ever
necessary, use long radius 45-degree or 90-degree bends to decrease friction
losses.
 Remove burrs and sharp edges when making up the pipe joints.
 Make sure that all piping joints are air –tight.
