Tips for improving the cleaning
and polishing result
Prolonged cleaning/polishing without re-
wetting the carbon fibre brush with electro-
lyte leads to strong heating of the electrode
and the workpiece.
– This increases the wear of the carbon fibre brush and
reduces the service life and cleaning effect!
– Never clean too long on one spot.
Sometimes, after machining, dull spots remain to the right
and left of the weld in the vicinity of the HAZ (heat-affect-
ed zone). The dull spots are caused by the welding process
(chrome depletion).
– This is due to the process and can be reduced by more
intensive cleaning or polishing!
It is best to use demineralised water.
– This is how you avoid white limescale edges.
– The water hardness must be less than 10 °dH.
Dry the surface with clean paper towels.

Carbon fibre brushes wear out too quickly
Stains after rinsing

or approx. 48 hours.)
There is no or insufficient power at the front of

 Switch the machine off.
Wipe the cables with a damp cloth.
Clean the device and accessories thoroughly. Have main-
tenance work carried out by a specialist.
‰ For detailed instructions on cleaning the device and acces-
sories, see "26 Repair and maintenance" on Page 38.
 Dry all items
Close the electrolyte containers carefully so that no elec-
trolyte can leak out. Store the device and accessories in the
transport box.
Close the transport box and secure it with a cable tie to
prevent accidental opening.
Possible cause(s)
Earth terminal not connected
Thread on cleaning handle oxidised or
dirty
Stayed too long on one spot when clean-
ing
Surface too hot
Too little electrolyte
Electrolyte quality too poor or depleted
Too little electrolyte used
Too little cooling in the container
Too much pressure when working
Too little electrolyte used
Not rinsed thoroughly enough with water
Limescale residues due to excessive water
hardness
Surface too hot
Electrolyte residues
There is a 99% probability that there is an
insufficient contact between the threaded
piece and the brush.

ing such as fingerprints.

Decommissioning

Connect earth terminal
Cleaning with wire brush
Do not stay too long in one place when
cleaning
Cool surface (spray water on the surface)
Increase electrolyte quantity
Use non-depleted electrolyte
Immerse the electrode in the wide-necked
container more often and cool it down
Cool longer in the container
Work with less pressure
Use more electrolyte
Rinse thoroughly with water
Use water with lower hardness
Process shorter sections
Use distilled water
Rinse when the material surface is still hot
Check thread for:
– Oxidation, damage, loose fit.
– Clean the thread with a wire brush.
– Apply a little copper paste or Molykote
grease to the thread.
– Screw the threaded piece and brush tight-
ly together.
– Use suitable open-end spanners WAF 10
for this purpose.
– When replacing brushes, tighten the new
brush each time with two WAF 10 open-
end spanners.
