Before getting started

• Read the "Safety" chapter
page EN-4.
The correct storage
location
– The appliance location must be
stable, even and heat-resistant.
– The appliance must be out of
the reach of young children.
– The appliance may not be locat-
ed on or directly next to a cook-
er or any other heat source.
– There must be sufficient space
above it.
– The appliance may not be op-
erated directly beneath a wall
cupboard as heat is emitted
from below.

First use

Odour or smoke may be
produced during initial use.
This is normal and is not a
fault. Make sure there is ade-
quate ventilation.
Use the appliance empty at least
5 times with the windows open.
1. Set up the appliance as de-
scribed previously.
2. Insert the mains plug into an
easily accessible, properly in-
stalled socket.
3. Open at least one window in
the room.

4. Turn the browning control (6)
to level 5 and press the operat-
ing lever (2) down.
The indicator light on the
button (5) lights up. The
toaster starts to heat up.
