OPERATIONAL FAULTS

FAULTS
1. The group does not start
up
2. The overload relay cuts
off systematically in a few
seconds.
3. The overload relay cuts
off accidentally.
4. Insufficient or zero flow.
CAUSES
Power supply failure:
Fuses blown. Fuses blow upon
start-up.
The circuit breaker cuts out.
One of the control panel's
automatic controls does not give
the start-up order. (floats or float
switch, programmer, etc.)
Failure in the power phase
Phase imbalance
Poor regulation or faulty relay
Blocked rotor
The power supply voltage does not
match the motor voltage.
Power supply voltage too low
The pump turns with difficulty due
to turbine blockage.
Suction totally or partially
obstructed.
Height of true elevation far higher
than planned.
Retention valve blocked.
Leaks from the delivery pipe.
Air entering through suction pipe.
Motor rotating in reverse direction.
SOLUTIONS
Reconnect electrical power.
Fuses poorly calibrated.
Replace with other suitable fuses.
Motor poorly insulated (biased coil).
Review insulation resistance using the Meguer
tester
Fault in the power cable. Review insulation
resistance using the Meguer tester
Monitor the circuit breaker cut-off curve. Monitor the
calibration
Motor poorly insulated (biased coil).
Review insulation resistance using the Meguer
tester
Fault in the power cable. Review insulation
resistance using the Meguer tester
Ensure the automated devices are operating
correctly.
Check power supply.
Correct the mismatching in phase voltages.
Check the tuning Replace the overload relay
Have an authorised service technician fix the pump
unit
Replace the motor or control the power supply.
Check power supply. Check if there has been an
excessive voltage drop.
Remove obstruction from the turbine.
Remove the obstruction.
Replace the pump with a different model.
Examine the retention valve.
Stop the leaks.
Review the position of floats or level switches.
Swap two of the three phases.
