Bombas Ideal, S.A
This protection panel must enable pump operation both manually and automatically. This panel must
have a system to monitor the level and an alarm system in case of incorrect operation.
PUMPING EQUIPMENT WITH AUTOMATIC ACTIVATION
Automatic operation of the pump is achieved using two level switches or floats, using a single contact
(start/stop).
The system must be installed in an appropriate place to ensure correct operation. It may be installed
next to the pump access trap.
If installing more than one pump in the sump, plan for alternative operation of the pumps.
Regulation of the automatic system is achieved by regulating the level switches or floats, raising or
lowering their position. The start float must be fixed at a height lower than the input of liquid. The stop
float must be fixed at a height that ensures the minimum recommended submergence. Using another
float (situated 10 cm above the start float), an alarm can be installed (flashing pilot light or siren)
CAUTION
The difference between the start and stop of the pump must not allow more than 15 manoeuvres per
hour.
For correct operation, you must ensure that the level switches or floats operate freely, away from the
sides of the sump or any other obstacle. They must not rest on the sump floor or in the incoming liquid
outlet. All the floats must be inspected periodically to remove any substance that has become encrusted
on them, given that this could hinder their correct operation.
INSPECTION
Do not place fingers inside the suction mouth of the pump under any circumstances to avoid
any risk of contact with the impeller. For that purpose, be warned that the pump may stop
and start automatically, reactivating the thermal protection, or due to the level switch. For
maximum safety, disconnect the pump from the power supply.
Periodical monitoring of the pump guarantees improved and longer-lasting operation. The pump must
be inspected after every 2,000 hours of operation or at least once a year. In the event of operating in
very extreme conditions, inspections must be much more frequent. You must check the oil. Under
normal conditions it is necessary for the Technical Service to check the pump every 3 years.

CHANGE OF OIL

The oil reservoir comes filled from the factory. In the event that water enters the oil reservoir and the oil
emulsifies, it should be changed immediately. Once the pump is out of the sump, it is advisable to
change the oil.
The oil reservoir is filled using SAE 10W oil to 80% of its capacity to ensure an adequate air chamber.
In the event of water entering the mechanical seals, the oil reservoir may become
pressurised. To prevent any splashing it is necessary to have a rag around the cap when it
is loosened, emptying all the oil from the reservoir and refilling it with the correct amount.
Always change the washer in the oil reservoir filling cap.
If it is clear that water has entered the oil reservoir and the oil is very emulsified, it will be necessary to
replace the lower mechanical seal.
CLEANING
If the pump is impregnated with solids, it should be cleaned with water to avoid any type of build-up. It
is advisable to monitor operation of the level switch periodically, especially in fixed installations. By
turning the commutator to the manual position, the liquid is emptied from the sump. If build-up is found
on the floats, it must be removed. Once the sump is totally dry, it must be cleaned with water, ensuring
that the automatic system functions correctly.
CAUTION: DO NOT FORCE START-UP OF THE PUMP IF THE THERMAL PROTECTION HAS CUT
OUT.
