BASIC OPERATION
7 Power Up the CR401
Before connecting the mains cord, complete all
connections (
page 8 to 10).
1.
Connect the mains cord to a suitable wall outlet.
• The CR401 enters Standby mode, and the
Standby indicator comes on.
2.
To turn on the CR401, press the POWER
ON/STANDBY switch q or
• The CR401 comes on, the display lights up,
and the Standby indicator goes off.
• To turn off the CR401, press the POWER
ON/STANDBY switch q or
again. The CR401 enters Standby mode and
the Standby indicator comes on.
7 Selecting Sound Sources
1.
Use the INPUT button i or . to select one of
the following sound sources: CD, FM, AM,
TAPE, MD and DVD.
• The currently selected source is shown on the
display.
2.
If you selected CD, see "PLAYING CD" on page
12.
• If you selected AM or FM, see "LISTENING
TO FM/AM" on page 15.
• If you selected TAPE, MD, or DVD, start
playback on the relevant component.

7 Adjusting the Volume
1.
To adjust the volume, use the Master VOLUME
knob t, or the VOLUME buttons ¤7 .
• Turn the Master VOLUME knob t clockwise
to increase the volume, counterclockwise to
decrease it.
7 Using Headphones

You can connect a pair of stereo headphones to
the CR401's PHONES jack for private listening, as
shown.
