Selecting Modem Software

Communications software that you can use to operate the modem
is preinstalled on all computer models except models purchased
for Japan.
Select the software according to the operating system you
are using.
To obtain modem software compatible with a computer

purchased for Japan, refer to "Worldwide Phone Numbers" in
Appendix A for the nearest Compaq authorized dealer, reseller, or
service provider.

Preinstalled Software for Windows 95

If you are running Windows 95, you can use Just Connect
communications software to operate the modem in a variety
of applications.
To access Just Connect from Windows 95, click Start
ÆProgramsÆJust Connect.
For an explanation of how Just Connect works, access Just
Connect and refer to Just Connect's online help from within
the software.

Preinstalled Software for Windows NT

If you are running Windows NT, you can use Trio
Communications software to operate the modem in a variety of
applications including faxing.
To access Trio Communications from Windows NT, click
Start ÆProgramsÆTrio Communications.
For information on using Trio Communications, access Trio
Communications and follow the onscreen instructions.

Optional Modem Software

By installing additional modem software, you can use the modem
for such specialized tasks as accessing a host computer from a
remote location. For a complete list of compatible
communications software applications, refer to "Worldwide
Telephone Numbers" in Appendix A for the name of the nearest
Compaq authorized dealer, reseller, or service provider.
