Do you have a question about the 2009 Azera and is the answer not in the manual?

I changed the radiator and the new radiator was completely empty of gear oil. Should I add a quantity of oil after changing the radiator and how much should I add?

Mr. Anderson
March 17, 2025

No, you should not add gear oil to the radiator. The radiator requires a mixture of antifreeze and water (ethylene glycol-based coolant) for proper operation. The required coolant volume for a Hyundai Azera depends on the engine type:
- 2.4L engine: 6.8 liters (7.18 US qt.)
- 3.0L engine: 8.4 liters (8.87 US qt.)

@Mr. Anderson I would like to inform you of the reason for my question. The vehicle is operating perfectly, except for a humming or hissing noise inside the cabin. The noise disappears at 100 km/h. This noise was not present before the coolant was changed. When I looked at the oil level, it seemed fine, but the noise bothered me. There are no codes when the faults are checked.

@Mr. Anderson There are technicians who told me that the cause of the noise is the torque converter, but there are no malfunctions in the performance when driving, the gear shifting is excellent, there is no vibration inside, and there are no indications that the cause of the noise is the torque converter.
