You can also operate the TV by using a clap-like sound, such as a finger
snap or a percussion instrument.
Have fun using different kind of sounds.
Nix sign icon
When nix sign icon is displayed, the Hand Clap Function will be unable
to work. If the TV is in a bad condition such as, clapping more than
4 times, a continuous noisy environment, or if TV is surrounded by
clap-like sounds, the nix sign icon will be displayed and the Hand Clap
Function will be unable to work. If these conditions are removed, the
nix sign icon will disappear and you will be able to operate once again.
Even if the nix sign icon is displayed, you can operate the TV with a
remote or with a touch sensor panel.
If the nix sign icon does not disappear, set the "Hand Clap Function"
to "Off" by menu (P. 35).
Setting the "Hand Clap Function" on/off
The factory default setting for "Hand Clap Function" is set to "On". If
the TV operates spontaneously by clap-like sound, set "Hand Clap
Function" to "Off" (P. 35). Even if you set the function to off, the power
lamp may still blink and you may still hear a beep when a TV detects a
clap-like sound. However these behaviors will not effect the conditions
of the TV.
You can also set the TV to not beep when the TV detects a clap-like
sound. For details, see "Changing the beep setting" (P. 46).
Getting started
Things you should know
Suddenly the power lamp may blink
This TV monitors all of the sound around the TV and analyses clap sound
based on frequency range, waveform and amplitude. Most of the sound
which is produced in daily life will not be recognised as a clap sound, but
some clap-like sound may be recognised as a clap sound. Therefore, by
the unaware sound the power lamp may blink. This is not a malfunction.
Suddenly you may hear a beep, enters mute/unmute, or turn the TV on/off.
If a clap-like sound was accidently produced with the right number of
times in a right interval as the operation method, the TV will detect as a
command and the TV will respond to that command after a beep. There is
really very little chance that this will happen. This is not a malfunction.
If you do not want the TV to respond to any sound, see "Setting the "Hand
Clap Function" on/off" on the left side of this page.
The TV may automatically turn off
To prevent the TV running in case the TV accidently detects a clap-like
sound and the TV turns on while you are out, this TV is equipped with
"Auto Shut Off" function. If the TV is turned on by using "Hand Clap
Function" and no operation is made by a remote or a touch censor for 3
hours the TV will automatically turn off.
When the "Auto Shut Off" is working it may seem as though that the TV
just suddenly turned off. This is not a malfunction.
You can temporarily cancel the "Auto Shut Off" by operating the TV with
a remote or with a touch censor within 3 hours. The factory default setting
for "Auto Shut Off" is set to "On".
If you do not want the TV to automatically shut off when the TV is turned
on by "Hand Clap Function", set the "Auto Shut Off" to "Off" (P. 35).
In such case, turning off the main power switch (P. 6) is recommended
when going out.
