will result in severe damage to the transmission.

Start the engine, then check the digital display on
the "push button shift selector." Under "Select" at
the top of the unit, the display should always show

the "primary" shift mode. Under "Monitor," the gear
the transmission is in should be displayed.
WARNING
Never shift from neutral (N) to drive (D) or reverse
(R) at engine speeds above idle. The vehicle will
lurch forward or backward, which could cause prop-
erty damage and personal injury.

Use reverse (R) to back the vehicle. Completely
stop the vehicle before shifting from a forward gear
to reverse or from reverse to forward. There is only
one reverse gear.

Select drive (D) for all normal driving conditions.
The vehicle will start out in 1st gear, and as speed
increases, the transmission will upshift through
each gear automatically. As the vehicle slows down,
the transmission will downshift to the correct gear
automatically.
The pressure of your foot on the accelerator pedal
influences the automatic shifting. When the pedal is
fully depressed, the transmission will automatically
upshift near the governed speed of the engine. A
partially depressed position of the pedal will cause
the upshifts to occur at a lower engine speed.

Occasionally the road, load, or traffic conditions
make it desirable to restrict the automatic shifting to
