1.4 General Safety Messages

HAZARD. Failure to obey the following

• Use only Dometic replacement parts and
components that are specifically approved for use
with the appliance.
• Avoid improper installation, adjustment, alterations,
service, or maintenance of the appliance. Service and
maintenance must be done by a qualified service
person only.
• Do not modify this product in any way. Modification
can be extremely hazardous.

2 Intended Use

The center rafter (hereinafter referred to as "rafter") is
designed to apply firm and even tension to the awning
fabric for increased stability when using a recreational
vehicle (RV) awning in moderate winds. This rafter is only
suitable for the intended purpose and application in
accordance with these instructions.
This manual provides information that is necessary for
proper installation of the rafter. Poor installation and/
or improper operating or maintenance will result in
unsatisfactory performance and a possible failure. The
manufacturer accepts no liability for any injury or damage
to the product resulting from:
• Incorrect assembly or connection
• Incorrect maintenance or use of spare parts
other than original spare parts provided by the
manufacturer
• Alterations to the product without express permission
from the manufacturer
• Use for purposes other than those described in this
manual

4 Installation


WARNING: FIRE AND/OR ELECTRICAL SHOCK
HAZARD.
Make sure there are no obstacles (wires, pipes,
etc.) inside the RV wall at the installation location
before drilling or cutting into the RV. Failure to obey
this warning could result in death or serious injury.
This section describes how to install a rafter on a Trimline
awning installed on an RV.
1. Shut off the gas supply.
2. Disconnect the 120 VAC power from the RV.
3. Disconnect the positive (+) 12 VDC terminal from the
supply battery.
4. Open the awning completely.
