Splicing Media

Splicing media requires the supply roll on the unwinder to be carefully monitored while printing.
It is best to pause printing while there is still a small amount of media on the supply roll.
Otherwise, a 2017 error can occur if disconnected media is feed into the printer.

QL-800 High Volume Maintenance Guide
When the printer is paused, detach any remaining media from the core and remove the
empty core from the unwinder.
Install the new supply roll.
Cut each end of media cleanly and squarely through the liner if not already done so.
Apply clear adhesive tape to the underside of the new roll such that a portion of the tape is
exposed in front of the leading edge of the new material.
Align the end of the old media to the beginning of the new media. Match the outside edge
of the media together. Media should be "butt-jointed" together, not overlapped.
Firmly apply the two ends together and resume printing. It is not necessary to apply any
tape to the top side of the media.
