10 Using the Wireless LAN Function
(Only for Caplio 500SE-W)

About the Wireless LAN Function

Caplio 500SE-W is equipped with Bluetooth
functions to enable connection to other devices. To connect to a
wireless device, you must set the Expanded Settings menu to the
wireless LAN or Bluetooth
(GP.193)
You can use the wireless LAN function to send still pictures
(including text mode still images), movies, and sound files. There
are two ways to send files using the wireless LAN function.
• Send files via e-mail
You can attach a file to an e-mail and send it to an e-mail address
registered in the communication list. You cannot enter a mail
message.
• Send files via FTP
You can use File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to send a file to an FTP
server registered in the communication list. If there is no FTP
server, you can set your computer as a Caplio server (Caplio-
only FTP server). (GP.199)
Caution------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
• Wireless LAN-enabled devices can connect at a maximum range of about 30 meters
(100 feet). Keep the line-of-sight distance between the destination wireless LAN
device and the camera within about 30 meters (100 feet).
• The provided Caplio Setting software must be installed to use the wireless LAN
function. Caplio Setting can only be installed on Windows.

• You cannot use the wireless LAN function to send files to a printer. To send files to a
printer, use the Bluetooth
• Be careful not to obstruct the wireless LAN
antenna with your fingers when connected.
