Assigning parameters to the CP 440

Requirements
The programming interface Point–to–Point Communication, Parameter Assignment is
installed in the STEP 7 software on your PG/PC.
Before you can enter the communication processor in the configuration table of the STEP 7
software, you must have created a project and a terminal with STEP 7.
Parameter Assignment Options
You configure and assign parameters to the CP 440 using STEP 7 or the CP 440: Point-to-Point
Communication, Parameter Assignment interface.

Configuring the CP 440
Once you have mounted the communication processor, you must inform the programmable
controller that it is there. This process is known as "configuration".
In the following, "configuration" refers to the entry of the communication processor in the
configuration table of the STEP 7 software. In the configuration table, enter the rack, the slot and
the order number of the communication processor. STEP 7 then automatically assigns an
address to the CP.
The CPU is now able to find the communication processor in its slot in the rack by way of its
address.
