F. Periodic Maintenance
The following wear items should be periodically
checked and replaced as needed. Note: Wear
items are not covered under warranty.

1. Filter Screen (#41)

Inside the quick disconnect there is a safety filter
to keep debris that is not caught by the pool filtra-
tion system out of the Polaris. If it clogs often,
consult your pool professional. Note: Running
the Polaris without the filter screen can damage
the Polaris.
To clean the filter screen, pull it out of the quick
disconnect, rinse it and press it firmly back into
place.

2. Wear Rings (#37)

The sweep hose is fitted with rolling wear rings
that protect the sweep hose. Replace them
before the weights on either side of the wear
rings begin to wear.
To maximize the life of the wear rings, rotate
them as they wear.

3. Tires (#12)

The tires provide traction and protect both the
Polaris and the bottom of your pool. Replace the
tires when the edges become rounded.

4. Sweep Hose Scrubber (#28)

The sweep hose scrubber helps keep the bottom
and sides of your pool clean. It also helps pre-
vent the sweep hose from spraying water out of
the pool. Replace the scrubber when it becomes
worn. The scrubber may need to be replaced
often depending on the surface of your pool.
To maximize the life of the sweep hose
scrubber, turn it as it wears.
G. Backwashing the Pool Filter
Always disconnect the Polaris from the pool wall
before cleaning or backwashing the pool filter.
Let the pool filtration system run for at least five
minutes to flush out the return lines before recon-
necting the Polaris.
H. Backwashing the Polaris
Occasionally flush out the Polaris by following the
steps below.
1. Turn off the pumps. Leaving the Polaris con-
nected to the pool wall, remove it from the pool.
2. Disconnect the feed hose and the bag.
Remove the sweep hose from the rear of the
Polaris.
