Title/Chapter (DVD-Video)
DVD-Video are divided up into large sections, titles, and smaller sections, chapters. The numbers allocated to these sections are called title
numbers and chapter numbers.
Example
(1) Title 1
(2) Title 2
(3) Chapter 1
(4) Chapter 2
(5) Chapter 3
Track
This is the smallest division on CD, and Video CD, and usually equates to a single song.
Example
(1) Track 1
(2) Track 2
(3) Track 3
(4) Track 4
(5) Track 5
The self-diagnosis displays appear if a problem occurs with the unit.
The service numbers in the table appear when a problem occurs.
≥The service numbers are a "U" followed by two digits.

The unit fails to operate
properly.
REMOTE
The remote control code is
DVD
wrong.
RECOVER
A power failure occurred or the
AC mains plug was
disconnected while the power
was ON.

Self-diagnosis

Solutions
≥Follow the instructions in "Maintenance and Handling" to clean the disc if it is dirty.
(page 58)
≥The disc cannot be played if it is scratched and this display doesn't disappear.
≥It can not be read for the disk which doesn't cope with it. Exchange a disk.
≥Take the cleaner out of the unit.
≥Insert a disc the unit can play or record on. (page 8)
≥The unit switches to standby automatically for safety reasons and you cannot operate
it. Wait for about 30 minutes for the service number to disappear.
≥Select a position with good ventilation when installing the unit.
≥Do not block the cooling fan on the rear of the unit.
≥Press [Í/I] to switch the unit to standby. Now press [Í/I] again to turn the unit on.
≥Change to the correct code. (page 56)
≥The unit is carrying out its recovery process. Wait until the message disappears.
