6. The turntable's PHONO amplifier has two audio output modes:
1. A non-pre-amplified output (PHONO OUT): This output is useful if you connect your
turntable to an external phono amplifier. If you select the latter output, use the phono
input (also sometimes called gram, disc or RIAA) on your amplifier. Make sure that the
phono input matches the type of cartridge used (MM moving magnet or MC moving
coil). Line inputs (such as CD, Tuner, Tape or Video) are not desired.
It is advisable to connect the ground cable of the arm to the ground terminal of your
amplifier if it is equipped with one.
2. A preamplifier output (LINE OUT): this output is useful if you do not have an external
amplifier. It is not recommended to connect the ground to the preamplifier of the
SQUARE turntable if you use this output.
Take care to connect the left and right channel correctly. The right channel is usually
red and the left channel white, black or blue.
A latch is present on this amplifier to select between the two outputs:
