Technical description
The standby charger is designed for cases where the starting battery is not connected to its own
charger and the charging by the house battery is disconnected.
When the connection between house and starting battery is disconnected (e.g. by the vehicle's
cutoff relay), the starting battery cannot be charged as well, when charging the house battery by
an external charger.
By connecting the starting battery and the house battery to the standby charger the starting battery
can be trickle charged by the house battery when this one is charged. In order that the house bat-
tery is not discharged, the trickle charging only starts when the voltage difference between house
and starting battery exceeds 0.7 V.
Lead acid, lead gel and AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries have an open-circuit voltage of
12.6 V. Lithium batteries have an open-circuit voltage of approximately 13.4 V. The battery charger
has separate battery connections for these battery types.
The charging current amounts up to 5 A.
