Before Beginning Operation

Before beginning operation of the BZP-100 Camera
PC Setup Unit, the following preparations are
necessary:
• Providing the appropriate computer hardware and
software environment
• Making the interface connection and setting up the
computer
• Installing the software
Requirements for Using the
Camera PC Setup Unit
The BZP-100 Camera PC Setup Unit requires a
personal computer with a free serial port to connect to
the camera system.
The computer hardware requirements are as follows:
• CPU: at least Intel 80386 or better
• Memory: at least 4 Mbytes of memory including
expansion memory
• Hard disk capacity: at least 30 Mbytes free (after
installation of MS-DOS and Windows)
• Floppy disk drive: accepting 3.5-inch 2HD (1.44
Mbyte) disks
• Keyboard and mouse: mouse must be Windows-
compatible
• Serial port: RS-232C port
• Video card: S-VGA
• Monitor: S-VGA, minimum resolution 800 × 600
pixels
• Printer: Windows support
Software requirements:
• MS-DOS: Version 5.0 or above
• Microsoft Windows: Version 3.1
Making the Interface Connection
and Setting Up the Computer
Interface connection
Connect the serial port on the computer to the 9-pin
serial port connector on the interface box, using the
supplied interface cable.
For examples of system configurations, see the section
"Example System Connections" (page 4(E)).
Setting up the computer
Before installing the BZP-100 software, carry out the
following preparations on the computer.

If MS-DOS is not installed, install it on the hard
disk.
For details of MS-DOS installation, refer to the
documentation supplied with MS-DOS.

If Windows is not installed, install it on the hard
disk.
For details of Windows installation, refer to the
documentation supplied with Windows.

At the MS-DOS command line, enter 'win' to start
Windows.

Make the serial port settings.
• In the Windows Main group window, double-
click the Control Panel icon.
• In the Control Panel window, double-click the
Ports icon to display the Ports dialog box.
• Select the port to which the Camera PC Setup
Unit is connected, then click the Settings...
button.
• Set up the port as follows:
Baud Rate:
19200
Data Bits:
7
Parity:
Odd
Stop Bits:
1

If you are using a printer, make the necessary
settings to install it.
For details, refer to the documentation supplied with
Windows and the printer.
