19. Replacing the Trailing Shield
WARNING
• Always remove the battery pack when servicing
or transporting the mower.
• Never operate the mower unless the trailing
shield is in place and working. Never operate
the mower with damaged safety devices. Failure
to do so can result in personal injury. The
trailing shield is subject to wear and damage,
which could expose moving parts or allow
objects to be thrown. For safety protection,
frequently check the trailing shield and replace it
immediately with only the identical replacement
part, listed in this manual. We recommend
having this task carried out by an after-sales
service provider.
a. Remove the battery pack.
b. Turn the mower on its side with the upper
surface against a wall.
c. Remove the rear wheel assembly on the top
side, following the section "Replacing the
Wheels" in this manual (Fig. 19a).
d. Repeat steps "a" through "c" above to remove
the other rear wheel assembly.
e. Loosen the wheel-cover locking screw, then
remove the wheel cover from the wheel axle
(Fig. 19b)
f.
Loosen the locking screws for the trailing
shield (Q) on both sides; remove the worn
trailing shield (Fig. 19c).
g. Replace with a new trailing shield and attach it
with the two locking screws and flat washers.
h. Re-install the rear wheel assemblies. Be sure
to replace the parts in the exact order in which
they were removed.
