  • Page 9 Olympus is not liable for any accidents or instrument damage that occurs as a result of repairs attempted by personnel who are not authorized by Olympus. Stop using the instrument immediately at the first sign of heat, smoke, abnormal odor, abnormal noise or any other abnormality.
  • Page 10 Do not use commercially-available electronic transformers for overseas travel use (travel converters). Use only the power cord and the AC adapter specified by Olympus and connect the power cord to the power outlet within the rated range. Otherwise, smoke, fire, or electric shock may occur.
  • Page 11 Never use the optical adapter if any of its parts are loose. Otherwise, the loose parts may fall off. If the optical adapter cannot be attached or removed because the nut does not rotate, stop using it. Contact Olympus.

If the optical adapter is about to fall off from the distal end of the insertion tube while inserting the insertion tube into the inspection object, the illumination turns OFF.

Otherwise, the LCD monitor may be cracked or scratched, or the damaged monitor may cause personal injury.     Safety precautions - Battery precautions - If you experience any problems when using this instrument with batteries, contact Olympus. Comply strictly with the precautions described below when handling the battery. If the batteries are handled improperly, the battery fluid leakage, excessive heat generation, smoke, battery burst, electric shock and/or burns may result.
  • Page 17 Do not allow metal or water, or any other fluid to get into the battery compartment or onto the battery terminals. If any foreign object enters the drum unit, remove the battery and disconnect the AC adapter, and immediately contact Olympus. Do not remove the battery immediately if the instrument was used continuously for a long time.
  • Page 18 If you are experiencing problems removing the battery from the drum unit, do not attempt to remove it forcibly. Contact Olympus. Contact the airlines in advance if you plan to transport the battery by aircraft. When replacing the battery, do not repeat inserting or removing it rapidly.

    MH battery to be attached to the external battery case is called “External battery”. DANGER: Use the external battery case MAJ-2485. Use the external battery recommend by Olympus described below. Single shape NiMH battery complied with IEC62133-1 Temperature range: Sufficiently wider than the temperature range of external battery case (0 °C to 48 °C) is recommended.

    IPLEX GAir Pre-operation preparation and inspection Be sure to perform the preparation and inspection described in this chapter before using the instrument. At the first sign of any abnormality, immediately stop using the instrument and perform the required actions as described in "Troubleshooting" (page 124). Inspections are not only required before use but also should be conducted periodically.

    Make sure that the latch (A) of the case is completely closed. Press the PUSH button (B) to unlock the extendable handle (C), and then extend it. To store the extendable handle, press the PUSH button to push down the extendable handle.

  • Page 46: Removing The Scope Unit From The Scope Case

    Hold the handle of the drum unit, and remove the drum unit and the base unit from the carrying case. 3.2.2 Removing the scope unit from the scope case Hold the scope unit main body (A) and the spool (B), and remove them from the case. 3.2.3 Attaching the scope unit NOTE: Turn OFF the power of the drum unit before connecting or disconnecting the scope unit.

    Tighten the clamping screws (2 positions) of the scope unit using the coin, etc., and secure it to the drum unit. NOTE: Make sure that the clamping screws (2 positions) of the scope unit are tightened completely. Rotate the drum rotation handle (C) of the drum unit and wind the insertion tube (D) of the scope unit around the drum rotator.

Attaching the relay cable Slide the fixing lever of the handle at the upper area of the drum unit horizontally, open the handle cover, and remove the base unit from the drum unit. Put the relay cable through the cable holder (A) of the base unit.

Route the cable so that it is not subject to excess force or twist, and close the relay cable door (E) while paying attention not to allow the cable to be caught.     IPLEX GAir TIP: One USB connector is equipped with the base unit. Connecting the USB hub (commercially- available) allows you to use the remote control unit and the USB wireless LAN adapter at the same time. Use the commercially-available USB hub that supports USB 2.0. Removing the USB wireless LAN adapter To remove the USB wireless LAN adapter, follow the steps for attaching the USB wireless LAN adapter in the reverse order.
  • Page 68 Insert the pole unit so that the attaching pins (B) of the base of the pole unit align with the pole mounting holes (A) of the handle cover, and tighten the fixing knob (C). Insert the pole unit so that the fixing knob (C) is positioned as shown in the picture below. If the pole unit is attached in wrong orientation, you cannot tighten the fixing knob.

    IPLEX GAir 3.10 Attaching and removing the push rod adapter Rotate the cap to remove it from the push rod adapter. Put the insertion tube through the push rod adapter. CAUTION: Attach the push rod adapter at the position approximately 2 m away from the distal end of the insertion tube.
  • Page 70 NOTE: The centering device is a consumable item. It will wear out after repeated use. The centering device may come into contact with surroundings during use, which may cause wear powder to fall inside the pipe. Do not use the centering device if the wear powder causes problems for inspection objects.
  • Page 71 IPLEX GAir Insert the parts assembled in the Step 2 into the insertion tube (F) as shown below, and move it to the position just passing the fixing groove (H) of the angulation section (G). Insert the other plate (B) into the insertion tube, and position it in contact with the parts assembled in the Step 3.
