10. MAINTENANCE &
TROUBLESHOOTING

Maintenance
Regular maintenance is important for continued performance. Important points to
be checked from time to time are shown below.
Location
Antenna unit
Antenna cable
Display unit connectors
Ground terminal
Display unit
Transducer
WARNING
Do not open the equipment.
Hazardous voltage which can cause
electrical shock exists inside the
equipment. Only qualified personnel
should work inside the equipment.
Check point
Check for loosened and
corroded bolts.
Check connection point for
watertightness.
Check connector for tightness
and corrosion.
Check cables for damage.
Check for tight connection.
Check for tight connection and
corrosion.
Dust and foreign material on the
display unit.
Check the transducer face for
marine life, which can reduce
sensitivity.
Remedy
Tighten loosened bolts. Replace
heavily corroded bolts.
Replace damaged parts.
Tighten loosened connectors.
Clean or replace as necessary.
Dust or dirt may be removed from
the cabinet with soft cloth.
Water-diluted mild detergent may
be used if desired. DO NOT use
chemical cleaners to clean the
display unit; they may remove paint
and markings.
Wipe the LCD carefully to prevent
scratching, using tissue paper and
an LCD cleaner. To remove dirt or
salt deposits, use an LCD cleaner,
wiping slowly with tissue paper so
as to dissolve the dirt or salt.
Change paper frequently so the
salt or dirt will not scratch the LCD.
Remove marine life from the
transducer when drydocking the
boat. Use a piece of wood to
remove any marine life.
