Freezer Drawer

Use the freezer compartment
To store deep-frozen food.
To make ice cubes.
To freeze food.
NOTE:
Ensure that the freezer drawer has been closed
properly. If the drawer is open, the frozen food will
thaw. The freezer drawer will become covered in thick
ice. Energy will also be wasted due to high power
consumption.
Freezing and storing food
Purchasing frozen food
Packaging must not be damaged.
Use by the "use by" date.
Temperature in the supermarket freezer must be
0° F or lower.
If possible, transport deep-frozen food in an
insulated bag and place quickly in the freezer
compartment.
Freezing fresh food
Freeze fresh and undamaged food only.
To retain the best possible nutritional value, flavor
and color, vegetables should be blanched before
freezing.
Eggplant,
peppers,
asparagus do not require blanching. Literature on
freezing and
blanching can
bookshops.
NOTE:
Keep food which is to be frozen away from food which
is already frozen.
Packing frozen food
To prevent food from losing its flavor or drying
out, place in airtight containers.
1. Place food in packaging.
2. Remove air.
3. Seal the wrapping.
4. Label packaging with contents and date of freezing.
Suitable packaging includes:
• Cling wrap
• Tubular film made of polyethylene
• Aluminum foil
• Freezer containers.
These products are available from specialist outlets.
Unsuitable packaging includes:
• Wrapping paper
• Greaseproof paper
• Cellophane
• Bin liners and used shopping bags.
Items suitable for sealing packaged food:
Rubber bands, plastic clips, string, cold-
resistant adhesive tape, etc.
Bags and tubular film made of polyethylene can be
sealed with a film heat sealer.
Shelf life of frozen food
At a temperature of 0 °F:
NOTE:
Do not refreeze thawing or thawed food. Only ready meals
(boiled or fried) may be refrozen.
Ice maker
The ice maker makes ice cubes, and is controlled using the
ICE button on the control panel.
The ice maker starts to make ice cubes as soon as the
appliance has reached the set temperature. If the ice
cube bucket is full, the ice maker automatically turns off.
If this occurs, you can reset the automatic off-lever by
pressing down against the arm until it drops.

The appliance will activate the ice-maker as soon as it is
plugged in and powered on. The LED indicator light above the
ICE button will be illuminated.
NOTE: The ice-maker will temporarily disengage when the lower
drawer is opened, and re-engage when closed.
To deactivate the ice-maker, press the ICE button. The key-
press will sound, and the LED indicator light above the ICE
button will turn off.
To reactivate, press the ICE button again. The key-press will
sound, and the LED indicator light will reactivate.
NOTE: If the ice maker is being used for the first time, after a long
period of disuse, or after a filter replacement, DO NOT use the ice
produced during the first 2 complete batches (full buckets).
Throw the ice-cube batches away and clean the ice bucket.
Make sure that the ice bucket and lower drawer partition are
correctly placed when returning the ice-bucket into the drawer.
