ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD II)
SYSTEM
Diagnostic connector is located on RH
side below the steering wheel.
On board Diagnostics or OBD, is an auto-
motive term referring to a vehicle's self-di-
agnostic and reporting capability. The
OBD system allows continuous diagnosis
of the components of the vehicle corre-
lated with emissions. This system warns
the driver, by turning "ON" the Malfunction
Indication lamp (MIL) on the instrument
cluster, when a fault causes emission lev-
els to increase.
MAINTENANCE AND SERVICES
The OBD system also has a diagnostic
connector that can be interfaced with ap-
propriate diagnostic tools, which makes it
possible to read the fault codes stored in
the Electronic Control Unit, together with a
series of specific parameters for Engine
operation and Diagnosis. This check can
also be carried out by the traffic police.
