The blade on my 4 1/2" 314 Porter Cable Trim Saw rubs on the center of the blade guard. I suspect the unit has been dropped. When attempting to saw/cut the blade loosens. Tightening causes the blade guard to bind and not move freely. could you please suggest a repair solution?

If the blade of the Porter-Cable 314 Trim Saw rubs on the blade guard and loosens during use, follow these steps:

1. Check the Lower Blade Guard – Ensure it is in working order. If it moves sluggishly or binds, return the saw to an AUTHORIZED PORTER-CABLE SERVICE STATION or PORTER-CABLE SERVICE CENTER for repair.

2. Inspect the Blade Flange – Remove the outer flange, clean it, and ensure the square hole mates properly with the squared end of the inner flange.

    ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES Safety Instructions for All Saws Keep hands away from cutting area and the blade. Keep your second hand on auxiliary handle, or motor housing. If both hands are holding the saw, they cannot be cut by the blade. Do not reach underneath the workpiece.

    MOTOR Many Porter-Cable tools will operate on either D.C., or single phase 25 to 60 cycle A.C. current and voltage within plus or minus 5 percent of that shown on the specification plate on the tool. Several models, however, are designed for A.C.

    If telescoping guard movement is sluggish or binding exists, return the saw to your nearest AUTHORIZED PORTER-CABLE SERVICE STATION or PORTER-CABLE SERVICE CENTER for repair. NEVER use your saw if the telescoping guard is not in working order. Clean and replace the outer flange, making certain the square hole mates with the squared end of the saw arbor.

  • Page 13 CROSSCUTTING AND BEVEL CUTS Support the workpiece on a firm bench, saw horse, or other rigid support and securely hold it in place. Extend the end to be cut off beyond and to the right of the support. Clear the area beneath the line of cut of all objects that would interfere with the blade protruding through the workpiece.
