6. Press the test deploy switch on the control, either through the space between the front of the door and the
lower housing support bar, or by using one of the door clips to pull the door open and reach inside. The
screen will deploy.
7. Remove the cover over the battery compartment with the thumb screw.
8. If not already installed, place the battery in the compartment with the terminals biased towards the front
of the controller housing. Hook up the red and black battery wires, taking care to avoid reversing
polarity.
9. Press the test deploy switch on the control again to retract the screen into the housing.
7.5 – Final Testing
The final testing of the system verifies that the screen behaves as expected when the initiating device activates.
In most cases, activating a smoke detector will put the elevator into fire service. Prior to conducting testing,
contact the elevator technician for procedures required to restore normal service.
Conducting final testing:
1. Contact the local fire department to alert them of the testing.
2. Activate the smoke detector or initiating device according to the manufacturer guidelines. If possible,
have someone responsible for the building alarm system perform the activation.
3. After deploy, visually inspect the unit to verify the magnet and threshold seal.
4. Deactivate the initiating device to retract the screen back into the housing.
