1. Check:
a. Data link communication connectors at engine and
transmission controllers are tight, clean, and
undamaged.
b. Data link communications wiring harness has no
opens, shorts, or shorts-to-ground.
— The resistance between J1939 CAN high and
CAN low wires should be 60 Ohms.
c. Engine coolant temp sensor harness for opens and
shorts.
1. Check:
a. Main transmission connector is tight, clean, and
undamaged.
b. TCM connector is tight, clean, and undamaged.
c. Wiring harness has no opens, shorts-between-wires,
or shorts-to-ground.
1. Let the vehicle idle with parking brake applied, wheels
chocked, and vehicle level. Check:
a. Correct dipstick installed.
b. Correct fluid level.
2. Check:
a. Main transmission connector is tight, clean, and
undamaged.
b. TCM connector is tight, clean, and undamaged.
c. Wiring harness has no opens, shorts-between-wires,
or shorts-to-ground.
