Combinations and Functions with the Fn Key
Combinations/ Functions
Feature
Puts the system into System Suspend mode, a power management
state. To return the system to the active state, press any key.
Fn+ (ESC)
System Suspend
Fn+ (F3)* Toggles the built-in speaker on and off.
Speaker switch
Fn+ 2 (F4)*
Adjusts the built-in speakers' volume.
To increase volume, press Fn+F4 and then V or b
Speaker volume
To decrease volume, press Fn+F4 and then v or B
Fn+ 8 (F5) *
Adjusts the brightness of the LCD.
To increase light intensity, press Fn+F5 and then V or b
Brightness
To decrease light intensity, press Fn+F5 and then v or B

Fn+ LCD / Toggles between the LCD, external display (connected to the
(F7) Monitor connector) and both LCD and external display.
Switch to the
external display
Provides for the lowest level of power consumption. When you
Fn+ (F12) execute this command, the states of the system and of the peripheral
System devices are written to the hard disk and the system power is turned
Hibernation off.
To return the system to its original state, use the power switch to turn
on the power.
