Page 4: Choose A Suitable Location
It is best to choose a location that has some protection from the sun. The maximum cable length between the XH2-120 and the RJ-45 Ethernet network is 100 meters. The PoE injector is not a repeater, so its location will not increase this distance. - Page 5 XH Outdoor Access Points Determine a good electrical earth ground point near the AP mounting location. If an earth ground point is not available, consult an electrician to have one installed. Before the AP is attached to a wall or pole, secure a grounding wire and lug to the AP with the provided screw in the location indicated in the illustration.

Mount the AP on a Pole or Wall 5a—Pole Mounting For pole mounting, Xirrus recommends using metal straps (not included with the AP). The metal straps can be obtained from BAND-IT-IDEX, Inc. (www.BAND-IT-IDEX.com). See their web site for additional contact information. XH Outdoor Access Points 5b—Wall Mounting Place the AP in the desired location and mark the location of the two mounting holes on the wall, as shown. Drill and prepare the holes for the desired screw type. In metal walls the holes may be tapped to the proper thread or the AP may be mounted with sheet metal screws. -

XH Outdoor Access Points Install Antenna(s) See the Xirrus External Antenna Guide for recommended antennas. NOTE: See the Warnings and Notices regarding external antennas in “Notices, Warnings & Compliance Statements” on page 13. NOTE: Be sure to configure the AP's IAPs to the proper bands (2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz) in Step 10. - Page 10 XH Outdoor Access Points Assemble the PoE connector. The components of the connector are shown in the photo below in the order that they are placed onto the Ethernet cable, and also shown in more detail as a color-coded drawing. You will perform a few assembly steps below before sliding the parts onto the cable.
- Page 11 10 minutes or less depending on bandwidth. Plug the RJ45 connector into the GIG1 POE+ port on the bottom of the XH2-120, making sure that its tab clicks in place for a secure connection. If power is being properly supplied to the AP, the LED located between the two Ethernet ports will show blinking green.

IAP1 ANT1 GIG2 GIG1 POE+ IAP1 ANT2 The XH2-120 has four male Type N connectors for the antennas. IAP2 ANT2 IAP2 ANT1 Both of the AP's RADIO1 cables (RADIO1 ANT1 and RADIO1 ANT2) must be attached to antenna leads for the same frequency band (for example, 2.4GHz), and RADIO1 must be set to that band on the AP (see Step 10). -

AP to correspond in Step 10—set RADIO1 to the 2.4GHz band and RADIO2 to the 5GHz band. NOTE: To use a 3x3 MIMO antenna type with the XH2-120, connect to the +45 and -45 antenna outputs. Do not use the connector marked “V”. -

WARNING: Do not locate the antenna near overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can come into contact with such circuits. - Page 18 The FCC with its action in ET Docket 96-8 has adopted a safety standard for human exposure to radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic energy emitted by FCC certified equipment. When used with approved Xirrus antennas, Xirrus Wireless products meet the uncontrolled environmental limits found in OET-65 and ANSI C95.1, 1991. Proper installation of this radio according to the instructions found in this manual will result in user exposure that is substantially below the FCC recommended limits.
