PRE-INSTALLED SOFTWARE

Your LifeBook Series notebook comes with pre-installed
software for playing audio and video files of various
formats. In addition there is file transfer software, virus
protection software, and Power Management software.
Tutorials
■
All operating systems and most application software
have tutorials built-into them upon installation. We
highly recommend that you step through the tutorial
before you use an application.
Manuals
■
Included with your notebook you will find manuals for
your installed operating system and other pre-installed
software. Any manuals that are not included, are avail-
able online through the help system of the software. We
recommend that you review these manuals for general
information on the use of these applications.
Operating System Options
Depending upon your system, one of the following
operating system configurations will be installed:

With Microsoft Works 8.0 and Microsoft Office
Student-Teacher Trial Edition.

Microsoft Small Business Edition (SBE)

(Optional, as noted above) Microsoft Office Small Busi-
ness Edition is easy-to-use software to help you manage
business opportunities more effectively, create
marketing materials, manage e-mail, and share informa-
tion. Microsoft SBE includes Microsoft Word, Excel,
Outlook, and Publisher.
Microsoft Works 8.0

(Optional, as noted above) Microsoft Works 8.0 is a suite
of software containing the basic tools to write letters and
reports, track family and friends with address books,
manage home finances, and create a home inventory.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
■
Internet Explorer is installed as your default Internet
browser.

Acrobat Reader
■
The Adobe Acrobat Reader allows you to view, navigate,
and print PDF files from across all of the major
computing platforms.
Norton AntiVirus 2005 from Symantec
■
Your system is pre-installed with a free 90-day trial
version of Symantec's Norton AntiVirus™ 2005. Norton
AntiVirus is a program designed to protect your note-
book from computer viruses. It assists in the protection
of the data currently residing on your hard disk from
destruction or contamination. The 90-day trial version is
activated upon your acceptance of software license
agreement. After 90 days, it will be necessary to purchase
a subscription from Symantec to download latest virus
definitions. (See your online help or manual for more
information on how and when to run this program)
WinDVD
(Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional
models only)
WinDVD is a versatile DVD player software application.
WinDVD provides high-quality video and audio play-
back on your system.
Quicken 2005 New User Edition

Quicken 2005 New User Edition by Intuit is a personal
money management program. It has features such as
portfolio management, account registries, online
banking and bill paying features. This version is for new
users who are using Quicken software for the first time.
Full version upgrade information is available online.
Fujitsu HotKey
■
Fujitsu HotKey allows you to control the display bright-
ness of your notebook in order to maximize battery life.
Fujitsu Driver Update Utility
■
Your notebook contains a handy utility called Fujitsu
Driver Update (FDU) pre-installed. With FDU, you can
choose to automatically or manually go to the Fujitsu
site to check for new updates for your system. For more
information about FDU, see "Automatically Down-
loading Driver Updates" on page 78.
Google Toolbar
■
The Google Toolbar allows you to search the Internet
quickly, block pop-ups, and perform a variety of other
tasks to make your Internet experience easier and more
pleasant.
Roxio DigitalMedia SE
■
Roxio DigitalMedia SE from Sonic Solutions is a versa-
tile program for burning CDs and DVDs using your
computer.
