Powerline Utility – Device Setup
Private Network Name
This is the network name of
your powerline network. The
default network name is
"HomePlugAV". When a
network name is set to
"HomePlugAV", it is considered
a public network because most
out of box Powerline adapters
can join this network.
Powerline adapters can only
connect to each other when the
network name is the same.
Change the network name to
make your network private
(recommended to increase
network security).
You have to remember your
network name (Private
Network Name). It will be
encrypted and saved to device.
Even the TRENDnet Powerline
Utility cannot read it in plain
text again. When you visit this
Private Settings again and the
Private Network Name shows
UnknownNetworkName, it
means the network name is
private.
