Installing Hard Drives
This section describes how to install a hard drive, or install additional drives (up to two).
WARNING: The procedures contained in this section outline how to install components located inside the
unit, requiring the removal of the cover. These procedures are to be performed by qualified service
personnel only. When working inside the unit, ensure you take anti-static precautions.
Do not operate the unit with the cover off.

The following procedure details how to install a Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive in the 8704 S unit.
Installation Requirements
The following are included in the packaging with the recorder:
•
8 screws, four (4) for each hard drive (used to secure the hard drive to the bracket)
•
two (2) data cables, one for each hard drive (attached to PCBA)
•
two (2) power cables, one for each hard drive (attached to PCBA)
To install one or more hard drives

Unplug the unit and wait for the LEDs to turn off.

Remove the two (2) screws from the cover of the recorder. The cover is hinged and forms the
top and front of the unit. The cover screws are located on the sides of the unit at the bottom
(see illustration below).
Note: Set these screws aside - you will use them to re-attach the cover.
