Problem
You hear a warning signal.

Possible cause/consequence
A message appears in the multi-function
display.
You are driving with the parking brake ap-
plied.
You have opened the driver's door and for-
gotten to switch off the lights.
You have not fastened your seat belt.
Vehicles with automatic transmission*:
You have:
switched off the engine
opened the driver's door
not moved the selector lever to P
Suggested solutions
Comply with the notes on ( page 281).
Release the parking brake ( page 43).
Turn the light switch to 0.
Fasten your seat belt ( page 32).

There is otherwise a risk of injury.
Move the selector lever to P.
