CHROMA SERIES LED POSITION LAMPS
Meet all FAR requirements for Chromaticity, Intensity, and Coverage FAR Part 23.1383 the 23.1397
FAR Part 27.1383 thru 27.1397 Unique reflector design allows for full FAR coverage compliance.
Fixed current source design provides consistent light output compared to filament lamps and LED
resistor type designs = complete FAR compliance. Robust machined base provides vibration resis-

EQUIPMENT LIMITATIONS:
An approved forward position lighting system consists of two
light assemblies, one located on each wingtip. The lamp must be
installed in an appropriate lamp socket and behind a lens.
Certain types of installations may require additional testing.
AIRWORTHINESS LIMITATIONS:
The Airworthiness Limitations section is FAA approved and
specifies inspections and other maintenance required under
§43.16 and §91.403 of the Federal Aviation Regulations, unless
an alternative program has been FAA approved.
No airworthiness limitations are associated with the installation of
the LED position lamp.
CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS:
The Chroma lamp is designed with multiple LEDs. If any one LED
fails the unit must be repaired or replaced.
Note: To reduce eye strain, use an optical filter such as dark
glasses or a blue covering dome during LED inspection.
PERIODIC INSPECTIONS:
An annual inspection shall be performed unless the OEM manual
specifies a shorter interval.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURES:
The following information provides guidelines for the installation
of the WAT LED Position Lamp. Please refer to the OEM manual
for your aircraft for specific removal and installation instructions.
Removal
1. Remove all electrical power or disable the applicable circuit
breakers.
2. Place the lighting switch in the OFF position.
3. Inspect the lens, retainer and attachment points for any signs
of abnormal wear or damage.
4. Remove the lens, retainer and screw and put in a safe place.
5. Remove the lamp from the holder.
Installation
1. Remove all electrical power or disable the applicable circuit
breakers.

2. Place the lighting switch in
the OFF position.
3. Choose the appropriate
replacement lamp assembly.
4. Examine the lamp socket.
Make sure it is clean and free of
foreign objects.
CAUTION! Do not touch the
LEDs with either fingers or sharp
objects as this could soil or
damage the LEDs and affect
the optical performance of the
lamp.
5. Place the LED lamp into the
holder ensuring the key (of the
assembly) matches the key of
the socket.
6. Reinstall the lens and secure
using the retainers and screws.
Note: Visually confirm that the
lens, gasket and retainers are
properly seated.
7. Enable applicable circuit breakers, place lighting switch in the
ON position and verify proper operation of the Whelen lamps.
8.Check all avionics systems for interference from thisinstallation.
9. A flight check should be performed by a properly certified
pilot.
10. If required, update aircraft records utilizing FAA Field
Approval
(Form 337) or equivalent.
