In the "1+4" mode, the M1 CPU performs a single transfer read cycle prior to the
burst cycle. This mode is compatible with Intel CPUs.

In linear burst mode, the M1 CPU performs a burst cycle but the address
sequences are different from those of the Intel Pentium. Operating the CPU in
linear burst mode minimizes the CPU bus activity thus enhancing overall system
performance.
